THESE ARE A FEW ANIMATIONS FOR THE PRESENTATIONS IN SECOND LIFE | |||
| Animation of the closure of the body folds (neural plates in the head area, to the right, tail bud to the left). By the end, the first three somites are faintly visible. The movie lasts approximately 150 minutes |
| Animation of the evolution of the growth direction in the cranial area (high magnification). |
| Another animation of the evolution of the growth direction in the cranial area (lower magnification, the folds in the cranial area are visible). The animation shows the orientation of the tracks, taken for 10 minutes, each ten minutes between 0 and 50 minutes, around the closure of the folds. One clearly sees that there is a massive change in tissue flow direction, associated to the collision of the left and right half of the embryo. As a consequnce, the fold in the cranial area does not close (while the dorsal area does so). |
| Time-Lapse movie of the formation of the heart. The endodermal fold contracts like the string of a purse. By so doing it narrows and forms the heart on one side, and the main vessels of the first circulation (esp. vitteline veins, dorsal aortas). Please notice that there is no chemotactism involved in this process since the heart fold grows towards the "vacuum" facing it. |
